On
Saturday 12 May 2007 the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) presents
the 52nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest through the Finnish
public broadcaster YLE in Helsinki, Finland. Malta needed to
take part
in the Semi-Final Round on Thursday, 10 May 2007, because
Fabrizio Faniello
did not place among the top 15 songs during the 2006 Eurovision Song
Contest in Athens, Greece. His song I Do received only one point
and placed 24th in last year's contest. Malta failed to qualify
for the final in the 2007 semifinal.
Malta's
representative for 2007 Olivia Lewis sang Vertigo,
written
by vereran Eurovision songwriting duo Gerard James Borg and Philip Vella.
Borg and Vella wrote Ira Losco's 7th Wonder, which
placed 2nd
in 2002 and Claudette Pace's Desire which made it to the 8th
place in 2000. Most recently they penned Malta's 2004 Eurovision entry,
On Again...Off Again sung by Julie and
Ludwig.
