Ira
Losco is a versatile 20-year-old singer
who started out as part of an alternative rock band in 1998.
She was discovered by composer Ray Agius whilst
singing at a school concert. He introduced her to the Festival Kanzunetta
Maltija in 1999, where she won the F.I.D.O.F Award.
Since then she has participated in the Malta
Song for Europe in 2000, placing 2nd in 2001 and finally winning the Festival
this year. Her musical interests vary from Pop, Jazz, Alternative Rock
and Dance, and she is always keen to try new styles. She also sings in
Maltese, English, Italian and French.
She released her first CD 'BUTTERFLY' early
this year and it shot to 2nd place in the local charts. Her band 'TIARA'
has recently released an EP and is presently working on their new CD.
She is presently reading a communication degree
at the University of Malta and hopes to pursue a career in the music industry
and the media.
