The Malta Euro Song has replaced The Malta Song for Europe festival as the way Malta selects its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009. The Malta Euro Song 2009 final will take place at Ta' Qali's Malta Fairs & Convention Centre on Saturday 7th February 2009.

182 entries were originally submmitted and narrowed down to 56 entries by a panel consisting of Alon Amir (Israel, Music PR & Management), Frank Cachia (Malta, electronic music producer), Lenoir Francis (France, artistic director, music clip director), Alvin Laudi (Malta, musician Band Aid Music Malta) Nadienne Sacco (Malta, musician, bassist), Vincent Scerri (Malta, radio presenter), No Yon (South Korean-Japan, artistic director, vocal coach, musician and singer). The 56 entries selected by this panel were performed in a series of weekly TV programmes broadcast by TVM every Saturday evening towards the end of 2008 into early 2009 under the name Euro Showbox.

15 entries from Euro Showbox qualified for the final through the votes of another panel – Kevin Abela (principal trumpet - Malta Philarmonic Orchestra, music director), Munro Forbes (executive producer JESC 08), Pascal-Emmanuel Luneau (musician, screenwriter, composer, author, vocal coach for singers and actors), Ray Mangion (producer, artistic director, professional performer), Denise Mulholland (vocal and music director, theatre director and actress), and Marco Vannuzzi (owner and manager 23music, music PR & International management) – while the another 5 songs were chosen through televoting.

An international panel of 5 foreign judges will select 3 songs to the super-final, and the winner will then be determined by televoting.

These are the 20 songs in order of appearance at the final.
