The
Malta Song for Europe 2008 final was held at Ta' Qali's
Malta Fairs &
Convention Centre on
Saturday 26th January 2008.
Morena singing Vodka will represent
Malta at
the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in
Serbia in May. Malta's 2008 entry is once again by Gerard James
Borg and Philip Vella, who wrote last year's entry from Malta (Olivia
Lewis - Vertigo),
as well as those for 2000 (Claudette Pace - Desire) and 2002
(Ira Losco - 7th Wonder).
Over
two hundred submissions were narrowed down
to 36 and on the 9th January
2008 seventeen songs made it to this year's
Malta Song for Europe
festival.
The winning song, which will
represent Malta in Serbia during the 2008
Eurovision Song
Contest
semi-final in May, was selected through
public
televoting (80%) and
jury board (20%). The finalists will be
selected by an international
panel of judges.
Here
are the 17 songs from the 2008 Malta
Song for Europe. The songs listed
below appear in the same order as the
festival's semi-final on Thursday
24th January 2008. The eight
chosen to move on to
the final are marked with an asterisk(*).
